Hi, my name is

Chee Seong.

I'm learning and building my way into the DevOps world!

An aspiring DevOps engineer passionate about automation, cloud infrastructure, and continuous delivery. I’m currently exploring tools like Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes to build faster, more reliable systems.

About Me

Hey there! I’m a third-year Information Security student at NUS, and I’ve been coding (with mainly Python) for almost 8 years now! I am an aspiring DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer. I started my coding journey in Junior College back in 2018 and has since developed a passion for DevOps and automation. I enjoy piecing together tools to automate processes as it gives me lots of satisfaction when things works.

I’m comfortable on Linux-based operating systems and familiar with tools such as Docker and Jenkins. I’m also expanding my skillset to include Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes. In fact, this portfolio site is my first personal DevOps project, and I’m using it to learn Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions and Nginx.

In my free time, I take up courses on Udemy too. I’m currently pursuing the Certified Kubernetes Administrator and AWS Cloud Practitioner certifications.

Right now, I’m a DevOps Engineering Intern at Kiteworks (https://kiteworks.com) in Singapore.

Technologies I've worked with:
  • Version Control: GitHub, GitLab, Git
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (basic)
  • Configuration Management: Ansible (basic)
  • Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes (basic)
  • CI / Pipelines: Github Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI
  • Scripting & Automation: Python (mainly), Bash
  • Work Management: Jira, Confluence
  • Operating Systems: Linux
  • Cloud: AWS

  • Integrated multiple external APIs into Python automation scripts to enhance functionality and automate data retrieval
  • Created proof-of-concept evaluations for tools such as:
    • Opengrep
    • GitLab’s Secrets Detection
    • GitLab’s Container Scanning
  • Deploying VMware on-site instances for developers
  • Explored the use of Selenium for automated web UI testing to enhance test coverage and reliability
  • Documented workflows and proof-of-concepts on Confluence, and tracked progress and tasks using Jira

Technologies used:

  • Scripting: Python (mainly), Bash
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (Console & Boto3), VMware
  • Continuous Integration (CI): Jenkins, GitLab CI
  • Containerisation: Docker

Software Developer Intern - Seagate Technology
May - Dec 2024

I was a software developer at Seagate Technology (https://seagate.com) in Singapore. I worked on a project that is used internally by test developers to help identify the dependencies between source files.

  • Generated a dependency graph using the following steps:

    • Documenting source code with open-source tool Doxygen
    • Parsing Doxygen output with Python
    • Generated a dependency graph with object-oriented programming (OOP)
  • Created an interactive and report-styled frontend that enabled developers to query the affected tests with following technologies:

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • Javascript
  • Bridged frontend and backend graph using Flask

Technologies used:

  • Python
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Flask
  • Doxygen

Education

2022 - end of 2026 (expected)
Bachelor of Computing in Information Security
National University of Singapore (NUS)
GPA: 4.42 / 5.0

In my current study, I have learnt important concepts such as:

  • Information Security
  • Networking
  • Computer Organisation
  • Database Systems
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level)
Jurong Pioneer Junior College
GPA: 83.75 / 90

I took up H2 Computing, H2 Chemistry, H2 Mathematics and H1 Economics as my main subjects.

It was during my study of H2 Computing when I grew the passion for coding. Python was the first language that I had learnt from then. I’m really glad I took on computing!

Projects

My portfolio site
This portfolio is my first personal DevOps project — a space where I apply what I’m learning in real-time. I’ll be updating it as I explore new tools, refine my workflow, and grow in my DevOps journey.
Hugo Terraform Ansible GitHub Actions Nginx AWS
StockPal
A command-line tool built for small business owners to manage inventory efficiently. Beyond development, the project involved pitching the idea to stakeholders. I gained hands-on experience with version control, testing, and Agile practices throughout the process.
Java
The Heist
Built a 2D platformer using Godot and GDScript as part of an exploratory course. My partner and I dove into game development with no prior experience — it was a fun and eye-opening dive into a new area of computing.
Godot
